PRACTICAL TRAILER GUIDE

Bumper pull or gooseneck for a tiny house?

Choose from the floor plan, completed weight, truck and route—not a preferred hitch alone.

01 / BUYING DECISION

Start with the home

List the intended floor area, wall layout, lofts, appliances, tanks and estimated finished weight. A foundation carries a permanent structure rather than a temporary cargo load.

02 / BUYING DECISION

Compare the usable space

A bumper-pull chassis offers a continuous main deck. A gooseneck adds an upper platform that can be incorporated into the plan, subject to height, access and structural design.

03 / BUYING DECISION

Check towing and delivery

The tow vehicle, hitch rating, tongue or pin loading, turning radius, route and site entrance can rule out an otherwise attractive layout. A wide home may also require transport permits.

What to compare before choosing a hitch

There is no universal length or weight at which one hitch becomes the right answer. Ask for both configurations against the same finished-home plan when the tow vehicle can support them.
